Explorations in Light, Mood, and Atmospheric Form
My paintings of cloud formations each carry a distinct emotional resonance. Some are calm and meditative, offering a sense of serenity and stillness; others are towering, brooding masses that reflect the psychological weight of natural disasters, war, and human impact. I don't see the sky as a passive backdrop, but as a dynamic subject—each cloud a unique and living presence.
Influenced by Color Field painting and the luminous intensity of the sublime, I use soft gradients and layered hues to create visual atmospheres that invite contemplation. My work abstracts the familiar, drawing the viewer into close encounters with these ephemeral forms. By zooming in on the details of each cloud, I aim to bring their textures, movements, and moods into sharper focus—transforming fleeting moments into something intimate and enduring.
Through this approach, my cloudscapes become more than representations of weather—they act as mirrors of inner states, charged with meaning, memory, and emotion.
